Dunkin’ gears up for cashierless store trial
Written By Staff Writer
Dunkin’ is set to test out an Amazon Go style store in California.
The checkout-free pilot will launch in October at an as yet unnamed location.
It will involve the use of Shop Anywhere by Mastercard, which is powered by Accel Robotics. Circle K and foodservice management company Delaware North are also testing the technology.
Once consumers opt in to the platform via Dunkin’s app or a kiosk, they can use a QR code displayed on their phone to enter the store which will be outfitted with self-serve stations.
Accel’s system uses computer vision to keep track of the items picked up by customers and sends a digital receipt to them once they leave the store.
