Zalando sets its sights on pre-owned fashion space

European e-commerce venture Zalando has announced an addition to its platform, enabling customers to buy pre-owned fashion and trade in their lightly worn items. 

“Starting today, Zalando SE customers in Germany and Spain can trade in their pre-owned fashion to us and also shop it in the new Pre-owned category,” Nichole Stardom, Buying Director at Zalando, said in a LinkedIn post.

Meh, second hand is, like, so 2018, you might think. But Zalando insists that it is offering an altogether different experience.

“We are adding the Zalando DNA to it: high quality and convenience. The new Pre-owned category in our fashion stores gives customers access to a curated selection of quality checked items, presented with professional photographs and product details to ensure a consistent look and feel on our platform,” says Torben Hansen, VP Recommerce.

“Plus, they come with the unmatched Zalando convenience that our customers know and love, like fast shipping, 100 days returns, and multiple payment options.”
