Six big retail tech funding rounds in 2020
RTIH rounds up the retail technology ventures who have been making waves with major investments.
1. Klarna
Swedish buy now, pay later specialist Klarna has raised $650 million in an equity funding round, at a post money valuation of $10.65 billion.
This makes it the highest valued private FinTech in Europe and the fourth highest worldwide.
2. Mollie
European payment service provider, Mollie, has closed a €90 million Series B funding round, taking the total amount raised by the company to €115 million.
The round was led by TCV. Mollie, which launched in 2004, will use the funding to accelerate international expansion and invest in product and engineering.
3. Mira Beauty
Mira Beauty has raised $9 million in a round led by Unilever Ventures and 14W.
The beauty search engine and shopping platform is phasing out its beta app and merging it with a redesigned website. It also plans to introduce new product categories and assortments by the end of the year.
4. Cosmose AI
European retail tech startup Cosmose AI has wrapped a $15 million Series A investment round, valuing the company in excess of $100 million.
This was led by institutional capital from Tiga Investments, OTB Ventures and TDJ Pitango, and supported by a number of unnamed ultra-high net worth individuals in Asia. The investment will support expansion in Asia.
5. Yotpo
SaaS-based e-commerce marketing platform provider Yotpo has bagged $75 million in funding.
It will use the money to continue growing its suite of products, as well as to acquire more customers and build out more integration partnerships.
6. Mirakl
Paris-based e-commerce startup Mirakl has closed a $300 million funding round led by Permira, with participation from long-term investors 83North (Laurel Bowden), Bain Capital Ventures (Scott Friend), Elaia Partners (Xavier Lazarus), and Felix Capital (Frederic Court).
This brings total capital raised to $400 million and places the company's valuation over $1.5 billion, making it a newly minted unicorn.
