Six retail technology appointments you need to know about

After the latest retail systems appointments news? Then, fear not, dear readers, because RTIH has you covered.

1. Walgreens Boots Alliance and Hsiao Wang

Walgreens Boots Alliance has appointed Hsiao Wang as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

The company’s board of directors says that it has also formed a finance and technology committee to give “even greater focus to this critical function”.

“We are making tremendous progress on our strategic priorities, including transforming and aligning our core business and building our next growth engine with consumer centric healthcare solutions. With this announcement, we are entering our next phase of execution and elevating our capabilities even further,” says Roz Brewer, CEO, WBA.

“We want to welcome Hsiao to our executive leadership team. He is an incredibly talented leader and technologist.”

“Together with our board’s new finance and technology committee, he will be instrumental to achieving our goals and truly differentiating Walgreens Boots Alliance in how we deliver the healthcare of the future.”

2. Vypr and Rachael Shah

Rachael Shah is leaving UK-based convenience stores retailer, The Co-op, where she serves as Delivery Manager, to take on the role of Head of Delivery at Vypr.

The latter has developed a product intelligence platform for retailers and manufacturers.

Customers include M&S, Leon, and The Co-op.

3. Gopuff and Patrick Bigatel

Patrick Bigatel has joined quick commerce firm Gopuff as Vice President of Grocery.

He was previously Vice President Of New Business Development at Booster.

Prior to that, he spent almost 15 years at Amazon, holding such positions as General Manager, Amazon Heavy-Bulky, Home Services and Local Selling.

In a LinkedIn post, Bigatel said: “Throughout my career, I have worked on and studied transformative retail disruptions that benefit customers, and GoPuff embodies this retail disruptor mentality.”

“The focus on customer first innovations and technologies, underpinned by a unique vertically integrated supply chain, has benefits extending throughout the company down to the experience our customers receive with every order.”

4. Jisp and Martin Ward

Retail marketing and grocery shopping app, Jisp, has appointed software technology expert Martin Ward to its advisory board.

Ward has also become an angel investor in the startup.

With over 30 years of B2B enterprise software technology experience, his background includes senior positions at Oracle and SAP, co-founding two startups, both of which made the Tech Track 100 listing of the UK’s fastest growing private companies.

Ward’s latest role is Partner at Waypoint Partners, where he specialises in helping early-stage B2B SaaS ventures accelerate their growth.

5. Puma Group and Ian Kennedy

Ian Kennedy has started a new position as Global Head of Digital Experience, E-Commerce at Puma Group.

He joins from Chelsea Football Club, where he served as Head of Digital.

6. AiFi and Adam Cichy

Adam Cichy has joined checkout-free stores specialist AiFi as Retail Operations Manager.

He comes onboard from Accenture where, over the course of four plus years, he held a number of roles, most recently Management Consultant.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “I’m excited to announce that I'm joining an incredible team of AiFi, operating the largest network of computer vision powered stores in the world, as Manager for Retail Operations.”
