European same-day delivery startup Shippr hits London following success in Belgium and France

Making its debut in Belgium during 2017 and launching in France in 2019, Shippr, a startup focused on the same-day delivery space, is now arriving in London.

The firm was founded by Romain Syed (CEO), Alexina Smet, Kevin Delval, Quentin Goossens, and Harold Waterkeyn with a vision to revolutionise B2B urban logistics by leveraging cutting-edge technology to make the sector more efficient and sustainable.

In November 2022, Shippr wrapped a €10 million financing round, attracting investments from the UK's Force Over Mass Capital, Belgium's Simplicity and SFPI/FPIM, existing shareholders, and business angels.

Its platform connects businesses across various industries with a vast network of independent couriers and transport companies. It offers personalised same-day delivery solutions, from cargo bikes to refrigerated trucks, operated by experienced and reliable transport professionals.

The platform boasts features that enhance delivery efficiency for clients, such as real-time tracking, advanced communication tools, and route optimisation.

Additionally, an application for transport professionals integrates various features, such as personalised guidance services, automatic invoicing, and more.

London calling

Having secured a significant presence in Brussels and Paris, Shippr is now setting its sights on London, with intentions to broaden its reach into the UK market.

It aims to go from 40 to over 100 employees in Europe in the coming months. In addition to this, it is working on implementing a sustainable strategy based on two pillars: reducing the ecological footprint of logistics and developing fair working conditions for all actors in the supply chain.

Shippr has also announced its commitment to becoming BCorp certified by 2024 and operating as a carbon neutral company by 2025.

It works exclusively with transport professionals, which includes self-employed couriers and transport companies. Aspiring delivery partners must undergo a legal document check during the registration process.

Delivery professionals often face time consuming and complex processes in finding clients. This regularly involves investing valuable time in both prospecting and managing their business, which inevitably detracts from their delivery operations.

Furthermore, keeping up with new technologies is vital for optimising their operations. This includes using software for route optimisation, customer invoicing, and more.

However, the process of accessing and utilising such tools can be a daunting task. Delivery professionals can find themselves in a bind during unexpected circumstances on the road or when clients require additional staff and vehicles.

Having a reliable partner equipped with the necessary technology is a valuable asset for delivery professionals, enabling them to streamline processes, optimise operations, and better manage unexpected events.

Noureddine, a Shippr delivery partner since 2020, says: “Above all, Shippr has a very human side. The team really listens to the problems we encounter in our job as independent delivery drivers. At the beginning, I was a novice in this business. With Shippr, I gained experience and expertise.”

“What I like most about working with Shippr is the ease it brings to my daily management. I don't need to make a delivery note or invoice to the customer, because everything is automated via the platform,” says Jérôme C., a Shippr delivery partner since 2021.

Happy customers

David Garlot, Co-founder of Crowd Cooks: “Shippr helped me with the cold chain issue. A real process was put in place. We switched from Picard refrigerated boxes to refrigerated vehicles thanks to the expertise of Shippr.”

“At the same time, our partnership has enabled us to drastically increase the time allocated to our core business. Time previously spent preparing, managing, tracking and communicating deliveries is now time we can use for our customers.”

“And when we have a peak in orders, Shippr increases the number of delivery people and I didn't have to do anything.”

Alain Etienne, Co-founder of Kazidomi: “Our goal was to double Kazidomi's volumes over six months, and we doubled them in one weekend with Shippr. The collaboration with Shippr is really simple.”

“The platform is easy to use, you don't get lost, it goes straight to the point. The delivery people are great, friendly, and constructive. They have quickly bonded with the team and even wear our t-shirts to deliver to customers.”
