Jonathan Zanger set to step down from Chief Technology Officer role at computer vision AI specialist Trigo
Jonathan Zanger has announced his intention to step down from the role of CTO at Trigo, a computer vision AI company working with retail and logistics clients to tackle challenges including loss prevention, theft, store management, customer and employee experience.
He has spent almost three and a half years at the firm, which has made a name for itself in the autonomous stores space.
In a LinkedIn post, Zanger said: “After several incredible years, I’ll be stepping down from my role as CTO at Trigo in a couple of months. It’s been a privilege to help lead Trigo’s journey - building a world class computer vision and AI platform, launching transformative retail products, and shaping our technology and product strategy alongside an extraordinary group of people.”
“Together, we’ve brought ideas from whiteboard sketches to full-scale systems, supported millions of shoppers around the world, and witnessed firsthand the delight of people experiencing our ultimate checkout experience.”
He added: "“To my remarkable team - working with you has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. Whether we were debating roadmaps over endless cups of coffee, obsessing over getting more and better data for our models, or trying to shoplift just to see if our system would catch us (it always did.) - you brought focus, creativity, and an unstoppable drive to every challenge.”
“To our customers and partners - thank you for your trust, feedback, and collaboration. Your commitment to innovation has been a huge part of what made this journey possible. To Trigo’s leadership team - it’s been an honour to build and grow alongside you, and I’ve deeply valued the thoughtfulness, ambition, and shared sense of purpose we brought to every step of the journey.”
“And to Daniel Gabay, our CEO and my close friend - thank you for your inspiring leadership, for the countless conversations, and for the unwavering trust and support. Working with you has made this journey not only meaningful, but also truly enjoyable.”

Over the next couple of months, Zanger will support Trigo’s teams through the transition process and focus on building strategic partnerships, something he intends to carry forward as a member of the company’s advisory board.
He concluded: “Trigo has everything it needs - a powerful mission, breakthrough technology, and the right people to bring it to life. I can’t wait to see what’s next. I’ll be sharing more soon about my next adventure - stay tuned!”
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Autonomous stores will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
