SAP and Mastercard announce in-vehicle payments initiative

SAP has added Mastercard to its Connected Vehicles Network platform.

Over the next six months it will offer consumers in the US the ability to complete transactions in-vehicle for things like parking and fuel through pilot programmes in select markets. Mastercard is also working with Postmates to offer on demand food ordering and delivery within the vehicle.

“With people so connected today, there is the potential for every device to be used not just to interact but to transact and ultimately drive a better consumer experience,” says Sherri Haymond, Executive Vice President, Digital Partnerships, Mastercard. “As a part of SAP Vehicles Network, we’ll engage our bank and retail partners and use our technology to provide a seamless and secure way for people to pay for things like parking or gas while in the comfort of their car.”
