Moon war of words rumbles on

Yesterday, we reported that Moon Co-Founder Alexander Ang had left the company due to disagreements over user privacy and allegedly contentious terms and conditions.

The venture has come up with a Chrome browser extension that offers an alternative payment method when shopping online. Ang has fired off several Reddit posts since his departure. He claims that Moon Co-Founder and CEO Kenneth Kruger has been ordering the collection of data belonging to users, which if true is a breach of GDPR and privacy laws.

Now an email has surfaced, allegedly from Kruger to Moon account holders. It reads: “I am reaching out to let you know that your Moon account may be affected by recent events. A former employee had access to Coinbase credentials stored on our servers. We have no indication that this data has been breached, but we are reaching out to encourage you to revoke your Coinbase API key as a precautionary measure. All Coinbase credentials on Moon are currently encrypted. Again, we have no indication that a breach has occurred, but encourage you to revoke the API key that was associated with our system as a precautionary measure.”

RTIH contacted Kruger for comment. “The author of the post you referenced is no longer a part of the company and is obviously upset. He does not present an accurate picture of our business,” he told us.

“I’ll be releasing a statement in the coming days providing additional information. The individual has made a lot of serious and false accusations against the company and me personally. They will be addressed accordingly.”
