Virtual queues and contactless payments only as EE reopens stores

EE will be deploying a virtual queueing system as it reopens its English stores next week.

Building on the opening of stores in Northern Ireland this week, a phased roll-out starts on 15th June, with 90+ EE and BT locations in England set to be back in action.

“Keeping our customers and our people safe is our number one priority, and we’ve been working tirelessly to introduce measures so everyone can be confident to visit our stores,” says Lee Frankham, Retail Director at EE.

EE’s GreetMe virtual queueing system will enable customers to book in-store or callback appointments. Customers will be given an allotted time, or alerted via SMS when a retail advisor is ready to help them. Call-back virtual appointments will also be on offer for those unable to make it into stores.

EE will limit the number of people in stores and introduce floor markings in order to help people safely observe social distancing. Perspex screens will be between customers and colleagues during transactions. All stores will now be contactless payments only, although chip and PIN will be used where necessary.

Virtual demos will be available, complete with images, specifications, and comparison tool, showing customers a full range of products. 3D Views enables customers to see a device in full, rotating as needed, with help guides detailing step-by-step instructions.

“I’m thankful to our amazing retail colleagues who have been helping customers online during the past month, and we are looking forward to welcoming customers back to our stores,” Frankham says.
