Kroger hits out at ‘fraudulent’ Bitcoin Cash press release
America's largest grocery retailer Kroger has shut down reports involving its acceptance of cryptocurrency payments.
The US retailer said that a press release stating it would accept Bitcoin Cash at all of its stores, as well as for online purchases, was a hoax.
“This communication was fraudulent and is unfounded and should be disregarded,” it tweeted.
ICYMI: This morning a press release was fraudulently issued claiming to be The #Kroger Co. that falsely stated the organization will begin to accept Bitcoin Cash. This communication was fraudulent and is unfounded and should be disregarded.

Kroger isn’t a crypto sceptic, however. In 2020, it began to offer Bitcoin rewards through the Lolli platform.
"Our team is continuously looking for more ways to put more Bitcoin in your wallet, and today we are furthering that goal by launching our newest partner, Kroger, which serves over 11 million customers daily,” Lolli CEO and Co-founder, Alex Adelman, said at the time.
We're excited to announce our newest partner, Kroger!

Lolli users can now earn bitcoin back on groceries at America's largest grocery chain — pick up AND delivery.

Ocado Group partnership
Last month, Kroger said it would offer more people Kroger Delivery through the addition of five new customer fulfilment centres powered by Ocado Group.
It is planning to enter the northeast market and expand in California and Florida.
“Kroger Delivery is a thriving part of our dynamic ecosystem and is transforming grocery e-commerce and meeting a range of customer needs through the introduction of first of its kind technology in the US, developed by Ocado," said Rodney McMullen, Kroger's Chairman and CEO.
