Six retail technology funding rounds you need to know about
RTIH rounds up the retail systems ventures who have recently bagged significant investments.
1. Seven Senders
German parcel delivery platform startup Seven Senders has announced a Series C financing round of $40 million led by Digital+ Partners and also involving btov.
The company, which connects senders with its network of more than 100 parcel delivery agents throughout Europe, will use the cash for technology expansion and the advancement of its internationalisation strategy.
2. Cruise
Walmart has backed all electric autonomous vehicles venture Cruise.
It has joined a previously announced funding round, bringing the total haul to $2.75 billion.
The retailer says that this will aid its work toward developing a last mile delivery ecosystem that’s fast, low cost and scalable.
3. Signifyd
E-commerce fraud protection specialist, Signifyd, has announced a $205 million Series E funding round led by Owl Rock Capital.
There was also participation by financial services provider FIS and investment management organisations Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) and Neuberger Berman Investment Advisers.
The investment values the company at $1.34 billion as it looks to expand its Commerce Protection Platform and identity growth globally, across digital shopping and payments.
4. Oxbotica
Ocado Group is to invest £10 million in Oxbotica, as part of the autonomous vehicle software venture’s Series B funding round.
The round was led by bp ventures, and also included investors in the UK,, the UK, China and Australia, such as Tencent, Halma, BGF, HostPlus, IP Group, Venture Science, and funds advised by Doxa Partners.
5. Beelivery
UK-based on-demand grocery delivery business, Beelivery, has secured a £4.5 million investment.
This will be provided by UKTV Ventures and GreenBank Capital.
Beelivery, which was founded in 2015, will use the cash to accelerate its business strategy as it embarks upon its first TV campaign and seeks to gain 450,000 new customers over the next two years.
6. Zilch
Zilch, a London-based startup operating in the buy now, pay later space, has raised $80 million in a Series B round.
It has now bagged a total of $120 million in funding at a valuation of over $500 million.
