Rakuten Europe and Chiliz launch fan token partnership

Chiliz, the blockchain venture behind the Socios.com fan engagement platform, has announced a partnership with Rakuten Europe.

The latter’s customers in Spain, UK and Germany can use Rakuten points to redeem fan tokens.

These are collectible, tradable digital assets that provide owners with benefits including voting rights, VIP rewards, club and sponsor promotions, AR enabled features and super fan recognition on Socios.com.

Deliveroo has announced the appointment of Devesh Mishra as Chief Product and Technology Officer.

Mishra will have responsibility for Deliveroo’s tech org, which contains the food delivery company’s engineering, data science, design and product development functions. 

Iceland provides 10% in-store discount for NHS workers

Iceland offered NHS workers a 10% shopping discount during 2021.

Employees just needed to show their NHS identification at checkout. This was also available at the retailer’s sister chain The Food Warehouse.

Amazon Go to make UK debut with London store opening

The first UK Just Walk Out technology powered Amazon Fresh store was unveiled earlier this year in Ealing, West London.

Tesco makes on-demand grocery delivery move with Whoosh service

In May, Tesco was testing out a new rapid delivery service, Whoosh, at an Express store in Wolverhampton.

Starbucks launches mobile Earth Month Game for Rewards members

Starbucks this year highlighted its Planet Positive initiative and invited customers to participate in a number of ways. This included the launch of a Starbucks Earth Month Game to its loyalty members. 

They got the chance to win more than 2.5 million prizes, cast a vote towards tree reforestation projects, and learn more about the Planet Positive commitment.
