‘One of the most exciting retailers in the world’: Supreme taps Shopify for online store launch in South Korea

Supreme, an American clothing and skateboarding lifestyle brand established in New York City in 1994, has opened an online store in South Korea, powered by Shopify.

In a LinkedIn post, Harley Finkelstein, President at Shopify, said: “A year ago, we welcomed one of my dream brands, Supreme, to Shopify.”

“This week, Supreme successfully launched in a new market, South Korea, with Shopify. Their latest online geography since 2013. Proud that one of the most exciting retailers in the world trusts us with their business.”

Overstock

Overstock CEO Dave Nielsen has announced plans to relaunch its online store in collaboration with Shopify.

In an earnings call last week, Nielsen said this will happen within the next few weeks.

Overstock.com is under parent company, Beyond Inc., which has operated as Bed Bath & Beyond since it acquired the bankrupt company’s intellectual property back in June.

Overstock then planned to use said intellectual property to relaunch as an online retailer.

In August of last year, it was announced that BedBathandBeyond.com would merge its business and merchandise with popular products from Bed Bath & Beyond.

In doing so, the company stopped doing business online under its eponymous domain name.

"Looking back, shutting down Overstock.com was a fatal mistake,” Marcus Lemonis, Executive Chairman of the board, said.

As Bed Bath & Beyond became more attractive to supplier partners, Overstock suffered.

“Turning Overstock.com back on will not only allow Bed Bath & Beyond to expand its existing assortment and hone in on its historical legacy success, but it allows Overstock to do the same,” Lemonis said.
