Amazon veteran Alexandre de Castro Alves heads to Intuit following retail supply chain push
Alexandre de Castro Alves has left Amazon, where he spent almost 12 years, holding roles including Senior Principal Engineer (Grocery Tech, Supply Chain, Distribution), and is joining Intuit.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: “This post is overdue. After an incredible journey spanning almost 12 years (and thousands of "Day 1s"), I have made the decision to say goodbye to Amazon.”
“I am profoundly grateful for the privilege of working on some of the most amazing and impactful projects. I am thankful for the opportunities to launch one of the first and largest deep learning models for worldwide retail supply chain, support critical grocery operations during the height of the pandemic, and help improve people's health and well being through Amazon Health and Pharmacy.”
He added: “As usual, one's experience is truly defined by the people one works with. These are too many to name all, but I do want to mention a few folks I had the honour to work with - Jim Roskind, Hernan Epelman, Ido Rosen, Ping Josephine Xu, Jenny Freshwater, Wei Gao, John Darrow, Wilko Schulz-Mahlendorf, Darryl Havens, Kyle Peterson, John Love, Prakash Bulusu, and so many others.”
At Intuit, he is taking on the role of VP of Technology and Science for the firm;s Virtual Expert Platform (VEP).
“ I am already immensely impressed by Intuit's customer obsession and its enduring mission to power prosperity around the world. I've been captivated by the company's engineering culture of excellence and rigour, and its courage to innovate and drive breakthroughs in AI/ML and agentic experiences. The recent strategic work with OpenAI is just one example of that boldness and commitment to creating the future of financial intelligence,” he commented.
“I look forward to contributing to Intuit's future and building the next generation of AI native expert-assisted experiences with the VEP team.”
