Elle (Murphy) Carter eyes new opportunities as she departs AWS Just Walk Out technology role
Elle (Murphy) Carter has left Amazon, where she most recently served as Vendor Operations Manager at AWS Just Walk Out, as layoffs continue at the US retail giant.
Amazon is cutting an unspecified number of employees in its cloud computing division after shedding more than 27,000 jobs since 2022. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has predicted its corporate workforce could shrink as a result of the company embracing gen AI.
In a LInkedIn post, Carter said: "After 8.5 incredible years at AWS Amazon, my time with the company has come to an end. I was recently impacted by layoffs, and while I’m still processing this unexpected change, I’m also reflecting with deep gratitude."

She added: "During my time at Amazon, I had the opportunity to grow and evolve both personally and professionally. I built and led programmes, drove results through strong vendor relationships, and collaborated across cross-functional teams.”
“My experience in vendor management and programme management allowed me to refine my leadership skills, solve complex problems, and deliver high impact outcomes. Most importantly, I had the chance to work with some of the most talented, innovative people in the industry."
She concluded: "As I begin to explore new opportunities, I’m looking forward to what’s next. If you know of any openings or teams in need of someone with a background in programme management, vendor management, or cross-functional execution - I’d love to connect. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of my journey so far. Here's to resilience, growth, and the next chapter.”
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Check-out free stores will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
