Ocado under fire over new London DC plans

Health experts have urged Ocado to rethink its intention to create a micro-fulfilment centre opposite Yerbury Primary School in north London.

They say that this would expose the school's 400 children and staff to fumes from Ocado vans, cars, HGVs and three fuel pumps just metres from the playground.

Academics, including respiratory experts Professor Jonathan Grigg from Queen Mary University and Dr Ian Mudway from King's College, have co-signed an open letter from parents to Ocado boss Tim Steiner, calling for the project to be halted.

And they’ve also received the backing of Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, as MP for Islington North. An Ocado spokesman said: "We are very sorry for the anxiety that the application process has caused and are addressing these concerns directly with the school and other stakeholders.”
