Ahold Delhaize announces cleaning bot challenge finalists

Ahold Delhaize has selected 10 finalists for its AI for Retail AIR Lab Cleaning Bot Challenge.

On 13th August, these companies will showcase and pitch their autonomous cleaning robots.

Finalists as follows: Avidbots Corp., Diversey, Fybots, Gaussian Robotics, Tennant Company, A&K Robotics, ADLATUS Robotics, Avular, Brain Corp and RoboticsINDinc.

Accelerating automation

In May, we reported that Ahold Delhaize was ramping up its development of robotic technologies that could clean stores and process orders amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“All the researchers said this Covid-19 situation is so urgent, we see a direct application for our work right now because there’s a scarcity of people who can work in stores,” Bart Voorn, the Dutch grocery giant’s Director of Data, AI and Robotics, told The Wall Street Journal.
