Holland & Barrett store transformation project continues apace

Holland & Barrett has relaunched its store in Bexleyheath, Kent in line with a new format, bringing to a close a tranche of trials that have landed in the last 12 weeks.

It has also recently announced a new, larger store in Angel Islington, and a complete redesign of its Hemel Hempstead location.

“Incredible work by outstanding teams. Super proud of the transformation we have achieved,” Nick Ridley, Head of Format at Holland & Barrett, said in a LinkedIn post.

Earlier this year, Holland & Barrett completed the roll-out of its built from the ground up Bumblebee till system.

The retailer previously used the Oracle ORPOS platform.

The project kicked off with a pilot at its Moorgate store in London. In February, Holland & Barrett wrapped an international roll-out programme by converting its Grafton Street location in Ireland.

“I am immensely proud to have lead an extremely small but talented project team who have built a ground up system in less than two years,” Simon Wallbank, Senior Product Manager at Holland & Barrett, said.

“Not only that but we have developed, piloted and rolled out to over 1,000 stores in seven different countries remotely using our own colleagues.”

He added: “Underneath that we have integrated this with all of our legacy back end systems which has been a true collaborative effort.”

“The coronavirus pandemic has tested us in many different ways and none more so than this project. Everyone stepped up to the mark and it really shows what you can do when faced with such challenges.”
