Staff at Dutch Domino’s Pizza franchisee can now be paid in Bitcoin
Immensus Holdings, a Domino’s Pizza franchisee in the Netherlands, is offering to pay its employees in Bitcoin.
This was announced on Bitcoin Pizza Day, which marks the first time Bitcoin was used as a form of payment when developer Laszlo Hanyecz stumped up 10,000 BTC for two pizzas on 22nd May 2010.
Staff will be able to choose how much of their salary above the minimum wage – which must be paid in euros by law – they wish to receive in Bitcoin.
Immensus Holdings is Holland's largest Domino’s Pizza franchisee, with 16 stores. It will offer the option in partnership with fiat to crypto gateway BTC Direct.
The company has over 1,000 internal and external employees who can opt into the scheme.
“We work with a lot of young employees. We hear them talking about Bitcoin and we want to offer the opportunity to own cryptocurrency,” says Immensuus co-owner Jonathan Gurevich.
Papa John’s
Papa John’s recently served up cryptocurrency rewards for customers in the UK and Ireland.
People were able to receive £10 worth of Bitcoin by spending £30 or more at select locations. They could claim their crypto through the Luno exchange, with the initiative running earlier this month.
