X5 Group unveils food related media platform

Russian food retailer, X5 Group, has launched a media platform called Food.ru.

Consisting of a website, mobile app and social media accounts, this will focus on the likes of recipes, healthy eating, cooking classes, and offers from X5.

Igor Shekhterman, CEO at X5 Group, comments: “We aim to be present at all stages of the customer journey, which starts long before the customer enters one of our stores and stretches into the online environment.”

“Consumer preferences are increasingly shaped by the media, particularly social networks, food related sites, blogs, and podcasts. Our own food related media platform is an important communication channel that connects us with our customers at the purchase planning stage.”

Food.ru will be headed up by Nikolay Shestakov in his role as head of X5 media, an internal department overseeing the platform. Shestakov is the founder of the Adventum digital marketing agency, and a shareholder at YouDo.com and CallToVisit.

Customers will soon be able to sign in to Food.ru using their X5 ID, which enables access to multiple X5 services after a one time registration.
