Mercadona deploys Cimcorp fresh food intralogistics solution
Cimcorp has implemented an automated solution for Spanish grocery retailer Mercadona.
This is the first of four systems ordered by the supermarket giant.
Installed in Mercadona’s new distribution centre in Zaragoza, the solution handles the distribution of fresh fruits, vegetables, and packed meat products.
Javier Blasco, Warehouse Purchasing Coordinator at Mercadona, says: “Our goal is to serve the orders of our stores with the highest possible quality, and we must know how to do it on our own.”
“We had the confidence do to it this way, because the robustness and reliability of this solution has been verified during the assembly and commissioning, and our staff is trained to use it.”
Cimcorp’s partnership with Mercadona dates back to 2013, when the former implemented a fully automated order picking system for fresh produce at the retailer’s distribution centre in Guadix, near Granada.
However, the installation in Zaragoza marks the first time that Cimcorp has acted as a system integrator for Mercadona.
