Zowie bags $5 million in seed funding round

Zowie, which has developed an AI powered customer service automation tool and works with the likes of L’Oreal, and InPost, has announced a $5 million seed round co-led by Gradient Ventures (Google’s AI focused investment fund) and 10x.

There was also participation from Jack Altman (CEO at Lattice), Markus Giesswein (CEO at Giesswein), and returning investor Inovo Venture Partners.

Zowie automates 60-95% of all customer service requests with its technology, known as Zowie X1. It automates ticket responses for merchants that use Zendesk, Shopify, Gorgias, and various other customer service platforms.

The funding will be used to expand its product offering and grow its commercial team in the United States and across North America.

“When I walk into my local coffee shop, the barista knows my name and regular order. Shopping online doesn’t have the same feeling of personalisation and ease, but it can and it should,” says Zowie CEO Maja Schaefer.

“By automating repetitive work, companies give their customers a better shopping experience and their agents time to answer complex requests with a human touch. Zowie meets the needs of customers and online retailers and improves the quality of experiences for everyone involved.”

“In this new world, everyone is purchasing online. Merchants are struggling to keep pace with buyer requests and expectations,” says Darian Shirazi, General Partner at Gradient Ventures.

“With Zowie, merchants can keep up with demand, improve customer experience, and drive more positive outcomes with customers facing more complex issues. We’re excited to partner with the team at Zowie to make customer service more efficient for all e-commerce merchants worldwide.”
