Grocery retailer Yochananof orders more Cust2Mate in-store smart carts
A2Z Smart Technologies Corp. has received an increased purchased order of 30% (300 smart carts) from Israeli grocery chain Yochananof.
This now brings the total order to 1,300 smart carts and total aggregate revenues to approximately $12 milliion.
Delivery of the initial purchase order is underway with 11 Yochananof stores now utilising the Cust2Mate solution.
Completion of both orders is set for the end of the second quarter of 2023.
Cust2Mate recognises every purchased item and enable in-cart payment so that shoppers skip lines, while also allowing retail grocers to direct people to discounted products and in-store promotions.
Netto
In July, we reported that Netto was testing out a shopping cart from Imagr that scans items and handles payment, enabling shoppers to skip checkout queues.
This had gone live at Kirkegårdsvej in Copenhagen, Kongelundsvej in Copenhagen, Runevej in Aarhus, Bybuen in Skovlunde and Virum.
The shopper’s smartphone is connected to the shopping cart via the Netto+ app. When the cart is filled with goods, these are automatically registered with the user receiving a digital receipt.
The trial was set to run until July.
David Tyler
Earlier this year, Imagr appointed former Sainsbury’s Chair, David Tyler, as Chair of its board.
“David brings a depth of experience and knowledge of the retail industry that is invaluable to Imagr at this important stage of rapid growth” said Imagr CEO, William Chomley.
“We’re thrilled to welcome David to the team. His confidence in and commitment to Imagr is a real testament to the work of our teams, our customer pipeline and the technology we have built.”
“He sees the huge opportunity we have ahead of us and he's committed to helping take us to the next level.”
Tyler was at the helm of Sainsbury’s from 2009 to 2019.
“Bricks and mortar retail is changing,” he said.
“Shoppers want to use their time efficiently and have a flawless experience when they walk through the doors of a grocery store. Retailers need to respond to this demand and provide the best customer experience possible.”
Imagr reports “very strong demand” for its product throughout Europe. It is also working on Japanese roll-out with supermarket H2O Retailing.
Tyler stated: “I’m excited about what the future holds for Imagr and what our solution can do for retailers. We have ambitious plans and some brilliant developments in progress. I’m looking forward to being part of something new and transformative to the industry.”
