Wear Your Wonderful: Uber veteran Shihong Liu joins Chinese fast fashion giant Shein for Europe markets role

After spending almost ten years at Uber, where he most recently held the role of Regional General Manager - Uber Eats (Delivery), Germany & Central Europe, Shihong Liu has joined Shein with a focus on its European business.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “2023 marked my last year at Uber, after nine of them (3,295 days), almost a decade, after operating and building across multiple countries/continents and in many different roles, together with many amazing people.”

“Honestly speaking, if not hiding behind the same old glamorous "why for the new job”, it’s a daunting decision to leave the place where I have built my confidence over the years and where I can understand and read business metrics almost like having a natural/allergic reaction.”

“But, that’s also how comfort zone is established and reinforced.”

He added: “Survival instinct (when exposed to new environments and challenges) is among the most powerful sources of drive and motivation. Embracing and making the most of the rebooting is truly fantastic (nerve racking) sometimes.”

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunities for all the learning and accomplishments I have had at Uber, but now looking back, what matters the most, is the people, all the amazing people.”

“Organisations and teams are like waves, people within are like water. Waves, big or small will break eventually. But water will always stay connected - one way or another.”

“I am glad to have met many truly brilliant people whose beliefs and convictions deeply resonate with mine. And I really look forward to seeing all of you and maybe building together again in 1, 5, 10, 30 years (or just grabbing a drink somewhere in the world “

Liu said that he was joining Shein to lead and build businesses in Europe.

Shein is marked by its enormous ambitions and capabilities to offer what customer desires, which undoubtedly come with significant responsibilities. That means lots of opportunities and also challenges ahead. So, let’s go,” he commented.

“Make the Beauty of Fashion Accessible to All - is no small feat. But our goal is clear: No matter who you are, where you come from, what you do - you can Wear Your Wonderful.”
