Head of CX Precious Bucher says goodbye to American online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos
Precious Bucher has left Zappos and the role of Head of Customer Experience and Engagement.
In a LinkedIn post, she said: "After almost 14 incredible years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to Zappos. From llamas in the plaza to JGL singing Purple Rain, themed dress up days, and wild shenanigans, it was never boring. Ask anyone though - what truly makes Zappos special are the people and the commitment to core values that weren’t just words on a wall - they were a way of life."
She added: "I knew Zappos was special before I ever started, but I didn’t expect to feel it so deeply, so quickly. When my mom passed away while I was still in new hire training. They embraced me and helped me navigate one of the hardest moments of my life. I’ve tried to carry that lesson with me in every moment since."
"It was the first place I ever got to bring my whole self to work - tattoos, fun hair colours, and all. I’m beyond grateful for the lessons, the laughs, and the people. I had the privilege of working with some of the most passionate, creative, and driven humans I’ve ever met. Your commitment to delivering WOW, embracing and driving change, and doing things differently inspired me every single day."
"There are simply too many memories and too many incredible people to thank in one post. But please know - every conversation, every lesson, every shared challenge (yes, even the WMS switchover and T-Mobile Tuesday), every weird and wonderful moment helped shape who I am. CLT is the heart and soul of Zappos, and it has truly been my honor to serve that team for most of my career at Zappos."
She concluded: "Shifting gears to something even more special than you might expect - somewhere that blends heart and purpose in a way that feels like coming home. Can’t wait to share more soon."

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Online retail will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards. which will open for entries in April, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next-generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
