Former Uber executive Vivin Ramamurthy steps into role of General Manager - Global Payments and FS at eBay

eBay has announced the appointment of Vivin Ramamurthy as General Manager - Global Payments and Financial Services. His CV includes stints at Uber (where he headed up the company’s global payments and commerce partnership strategy) and Symantec.

Ramamurthy joined eBay in 2023 and is now stepping into this new role.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “eBay’s purpose is to empower people and communities by creating economic opportunity for all. Every day, our platform connects millions of buyers and sellers around the world, tearing down barriers and enabling anyone, anywhere, to participate in commerce and pursue their passions.”

“Over the past two plus years, we have been deeply immersed in building and transforming eBay’s global payments and financial service business. We are proud to manage the payments and financial services business for eBay, a $70 billion+ global e-commerce marketplace, serving over 100 million+ buyers and sellers across 150+ countries. Working with such talented colleagues and an exceptional leadership team that continually supports and champions our efforts has been an incredible experience.”

He concluded: “The greatest reward has been seeing how our efforts have truly made a difference in enhancing the experience for our buyers, sellers, and partners every single day and supporting the company’s growth.”

“We have thrived on turning bold ideas into reality whether launching transformative products, forging high impact partnerships, or driving outsized growth, profitability, and cost savings, which has contributed meaningfully to eBay’s financial performance and shareholder value. Our unwavering focus will remain on continuously finding better ways to serve our buyers, sellers, and partners every day.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Payments will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
