1. Amazon goes mad for Manchester
Amazon has opened a new tech centre in Manchester. This adds to its corporate offices in London, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
2. Goldman Sachs to buy ‘built for the future’ Aptos
Retail tech big hitter Aptos is set to be acquired by the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs from its current private equity owner, Apax Partners. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
3. Asos announces See My Fit augmented reality pilot
Asos is testing out See My Fit, an augmented reality tool developed in partnership with Israeli company Zeekit.
4. Watsons China announces WeChat Work and Cloud Stores roll-out
Watsons China is set to deploy Tencent’s WeChat Work platform and Cloud Stores in its 3,800 stores during Q1.
5. Google closes in on Pointy deal
Google is set to acquire Pointy, an Irish startup that helps people find out what their local stores have in stock.
