$110.8 billion…Amazon has reported third quarter revenues of $110.8 billion, slightly behind market expectations despite rising 15% year-on-year.

720,000Amazon has opened YUL9, pitched as the e-commerce giant’s most advanced sort centre in Canada, in Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec.

The 720,000 square foot YUL9 facility will be the first sort centre in Canada to implement Amazon Robotics' mobile robotic order fulfilment systems. 

The move will enable faster order fulfilment to communities in Eastern Canada.

10Tesco is launching a pilot with rapid grocery delivery venture Gorillas.

The retailer’s customers will be able to order Tesco products to their doors, within 10 minutes, via the Gorillas app, starting this week.

Gorillas will set up micro-fulfilment sites at five large Tesco stores to handle the deliveries. The first store to be involved in the partnership is in Thornton Heath, London.

97% and 50%…Payments venture Square has released research that looks at the future of restaurants and retailers in the UK.

Key findings include: 97% of consumers now make monthly retail purchases online. Half of UK stores now offer same day in-store pick-up.

42% and 73%…Brits plan to spend less this Christmas, with sales scepticism rife, according to research from Ve Global.

The e-commerce technology venture surveyed 2,005 British consumers.

42% plan to cut back on their festive spending this year. 73%, meanwhile, believe retailers bump up original prices to make discounted prices look more appealing.

$60 million and $85 million…Market research platform venture Attest has raised $60 million in Series B funding.

This brings the total funds invested in the company, whose clients include Microsoft, Santander, Walgreens/Boots, Wise and Klarna, to over $85 million.

57% of online shoppers around the world have made at least one online purchase from a company in another country in the last 12 months, while a further 22% have considered doing so, according to research from Logistyx Technologies.

8 and 20…European fashion platform Zalando has extended its Magazino TORU robot fleet at its logistics site in Lahr, Germany.

The existing fleet of eight will be joined by 20 additional robots, some of which will support the picking of shoes ordered online during Cyber Week 2021.

1Ted Baker is making its first foray into the clothing gaming market. This month it will showcase its autumn/winter brand campaign and clothing collections within its own universe on Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The lifestyle brand says that it is “experimenting with new and innovative digital formats in a bid to develop its cultural capital and capture market share from a Millennial audience”.

$30 million…Mobile wallet payment provider, Citcon, has bagged $30 million in funding in a Series C round co-led by Norwest Venture Partners and Cota Capital. 

1.3 millionTesco's grocery website and app were offline last weekend, a result of the retailer being hit by hackers.

The retailer receives around 1.3 million online orders every week.
