8…Earlier this month, RTIH reported that Amazon was working away on an Amazon Fresh store at Holborn Chancery Lane in London.

Said store opened its doors to the public this week.

This is the e-commerce giant’s eighth such UK convenience store to feature Just Walk Out Shopping tech, which was pioneered at the Amazon Go offering in the States.

The other seven are in Camden, Ealing, Wembley Park, White City, Canary Wharf, Dalston and East Sheen.

350%…Online retailers across Europe face a new era of malicious attacks spurred by a Covid-19 inspired transformation in e-commerce and a 350% increase in fraudulent orders, according to research by Signifyd.

This is thanks in part to the growing sophistication and diversification of organised fraud rings.

The research also flags a doubling of consumer abuse in the first half of 2021, including false claims that an online order never arrived or that an order that did arrive was in unsatisfactory condition.

200…London-based, social and live shopping platform AGORA has launched a beauty marketplace, powered by SaaS platform Mirakl.

The AGORA app allows beauty fans to monetise their talent by creating and sharing live and recorded video content that links directly to products from their favourite brands. 

In November, the venture will host around 200 shows, with plans to continue growing its offering so as to have a constant stream of hosts going live. 

5,000 and 120Compagnie Financière Richemont, owner of Cartier, Montblanc, IWC Schaffhausen, and Van Cleef & Arpels, is moving its entire enterprise IT infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Richemont will close its European datacentres and migrate additional ones in Hong Kong and the US to AWS by the end of 2022. 

As part of its digital transformation strategy, the company will move more than 5,000 virtual machines and 120 SAP instances to AWS as it looks to “modernise its infrastructure, raise its security posture, and drive automation across its global operations”.

£3 million…Arete has led a £3 million investment into customer analytics startup Uncrowd.  

Begin and Matrix Capital also participated in the round. This builds on a  a £500,000 seed funding round in 2020.

$40 millionFlytrex, an Israeli drone delivery company working with such partners as Walmart, has announced a $40 million Series C funding round headed up by BRM Group.

£10.4 billion…UK shoppers spent £10.4 billion online in October, an increase of 5% on last year’s Covid driven gains, according to research by Adobe.

The figure is the highest ever online spend in October and 58% higher than in 2019. 

€7.5 million…German quick commerce startup GetFaster has raised €7.5 million in seed funding.

The company, which focuses on the soft discounter part of the delivery market, plans to use the cash for coverage expansion, customer base growth, and product range development.
