Ten retail tech funding rounds you need to know about
RTIH rounds up the retail technology ventures who have been making waves with major investments.
1. Cubyn
Paris-based logistics startup Cubyn has raised €35 million in a Series C round.
This brings its total funding to €55 million.
2. Yotpo
E-commerce marketing startup Yotpo has landed $230 million in Series F funding, putting its valuation at $1.4 billion.
Its largest investment round to date was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Tiger Global.
3. Nuvemshop
Nuvemshop, a Latin America-based e-commerce platform, has announced a $90 million Series D investment led by Accel.
There was also participation from ThornTree Capital and existing investors including Kaszek and Qualcomm Ventures.
This round brings its total funding to over $128 million.
4. Fridge No More
Fridge No More, a US-based instant grocery delivery service, has closed a $15.4 million Series A funding round.
The venture operates small, hyperlocal delivery-only grocery stores and currently serves the Williamsburg, Park Slope and Gowanus neighbourhoods in Brooklyn.
5. TryNow
TryNow, a software platform that enables consumers to try items at home before buying, has raised a $12 million Series A funding round from Shine Capital, Craft Ventures, SciFi VC, Third Kind, and Plaid co-founders Zachary Perret and William Hockey.
6. GoPuff
US delivery venture goPuff has raised $1.15 billion in new funding, more than doubling its valuation to $8.9 billion.
The deal brings 2021 investment in US grocery and convenience goods startups so far to more than $1.7 billion, according to PitchBook data.
It will use the funds to expand its presence in the US as well as internationally, and also focus on diversifying its product lines.
7. Blippar
UK-based augmented reality technology company, Blippar, has bagged $5 million in funding.
The pre-Series A round was co-led by Chroma Ventures, the investment arm of Paddy Burns’ and Chris van der Kuyl’s gaming company 4J Studios, and West Coast Capital, the private equity arm of Scottish entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter and family.
Canadian entrepreneur Anthony Lacavera also contributed to the round through his Globalive Capital investment firm.
8. Purplle
Indian e-commerce beauty products platform, Purplle, has raised $45 million from Sequoia Capital India and existing investors Verlinvest, Blume Ventures, and JSW Ventures.
9. Lolli
Bitcoin rewards venture, Lolli, has closed a pre-Series A fundraising round after pulling in $5 million
The round saw investment from the likes of Seven Seven Six, a venture capital firm co-founded by Reddit executive chairman Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams’ Serena Ventures, and management company Night Media.
10. Dada
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com is set to invest $800 million in newly issued ordinary shares of Dada, an on-demand delivery platform.
