Amazon selects Camden for next London Amazon Fresh store

Amazon is set to open an Amazon Fresh location in Camden, London.

It will be the fifth such convenience store to feature Just Walk Out Shopping tech in the UK, which was pioneered at the Amazon Go offering in the States.

The other four are in Ealing, Wembley Park, White City and Canary Wharf.

The former Evans Cycles shop in Chalk Farm Road, close to where Morrisons has undergone a major facelift at its long standing supermarket. is currently being refurbished as Amazon gets closer and closer to central London.

Shoppers will be able to use the e-commerce giant’s app to enter (no Prime membership required) and buy items, bagging them as they go.

At the end, they don’t need to stand in queue or check out. They are automatically billed as they leave.

The Camden store will offer the private food brand, ‘by Amazon’. Customers will also find a range of hot food throughout the day and on-the-go meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It will be open from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, seven days a week.

Amazon said in a recent press release that it planned further openings in the greater London area, although it did not reveal exact numbers or locations.

A spokesperson confirmed that Camden would be the fifth opening, but did not provide a launch date.

Prime Day 2021

Amazon recently announced that its annual Prime Day event will be held on 21st and 22nd June.

It kicks off on the 21st at midnight PDT (3 a.m. EDT) and runs through to the 22nd for Prime members in the US., the UK,, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.

Due to the increasing impact of Covid-19 in Canada and India, it has been postponed in those countries.

“Prime Day is a celebration of our Prime members, and we’re excited to bring members great deals across an incredible selection, whether members want to shop and save on top brands, buzzworthy items, or small business collections,” says Jamil Ghani, VP at Amazon Prime.

“Since we launched it in 2015, it’s delivered great new ways to shop, gift, watch movies and TV, and even dance, and we’re excited to carry on that tradition.”

Last year, the event took place in October.

It is typically held in mid-July, but was postponed amid the coronavirus outbreak as Amazon grappled with the unenviable task of handling both a surge in online orders and various rules designed to keep its warehouse workers safe.
