British luxury department store Harrods enlists Enactor for self-checkout systems programme

Enactor has announced implementation of a self-checkout (SCO) system in luxury department store Harrods.

Mike Carrell, Founder and Managing Director at Enactor, says: “The self-checkout market is changing rapidly and we are therefore thrilled that more clients are entrusting us to provide them with a modern solution and next-generation PoS solution powered by our single platform architecture.”

“The launch of this SCO pilot programme with Harrods is not just a business venture but a testament to our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and mutual growth.”

“We are delighted to continue our journey with Harrods and provide their customers with a shopping experience like no other.”

Andreas Efstathiou, Chief Information Officer at Harrods, comments: “Enactor is the natural partner for us when it comes to upgrading our SCO systems. Their understanding of our strategy and growth plans align perfectly with our vision of giving Harrods customers the very best experience in our store."

Enactor's SCO software is on the same architecture as the Retail and Hospitality PoS, a single platform which also includes mobile PoS.

Another key benefit us the flexibility of a hybrid mode, allowing easy transitions between self-checkout and attended checkout.

A pilot programme debuted in Harrods' Chocolate Hall with a single terminal.

After receiving positive feedback from customers, Enactor SCO terminals were deployed throughout Harrods with two more in the Chocolate Hall and one in the Food Hall. Shortly afterwards, the remaining three SCO terminals were deployed in the Food Hall.
