Revolut and Wayve among firms fronting new Balderton Capital Built in Europe tech startups campaign

VC firm Balderton Capital has launched Built in Europe - a campaign that aims to celebrate Europe’s tech sector and encourage more people to build or join a startup in Europe.

Conceived and executed in house by Balderton in collaboration with design firm UTILE, the initiative is pitched as the first large scale brand campaign of its kind from a European venture capital firm. It spans out of home (OOH) and digital creative across London, Paris, Berlin, Munich and Stockholm.

The OOH launches on 1st June and will run for two weeks, targeting startup hubs and tech conferences in each city. Key placements include Old Street Roundabout (during SXSW London), exterior advertising at Station F in Paris during VivaTech (the first time Station F has ever featured partner advertising on the exterior of the building), the Stureplan digital billboard in the heart of Stockholm, and strategic placements and LED trucks in Berlin and Munich.

BuiltInEurope.com compiles resources for prospective founders as well as a custom built jobs platform, aggregating open roles at startups and scale-ups across Europe.

The campaign creative puts Europe’s founders front and centre through portrait photography and messaging designed to challenge outdated perceptions of the sector. The OOH ads spotlight 14 of Europe’s most successful tech startups - including Revolut, Wayve, Mistral AI, Lovable, Beauty Pie, Synthesia and ElevenLabs - while more than 100 founders and CEOs from across the ecosystem are involved in the digital activation.

Suranga Chandratillake, General Partner at Balderton, says: "Travelling across Europe and meeting founders every day, what we feel is excitement and energy, not just from the big names who have already proven that their ideas work, but also from founders with huge ambition who are just getting started. For too long, the narrative around European tech has been stuck on all the things that need to change. Built In Europe aims to shift the conversation from potential to proof.

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Startups will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
