£26.8 billionThe UK buy now, pay later sector will be worth £26.8 billion by 2024, a 175% increase driven by an increasing share of the e-commerce market. 

That’s according to research from London-based BNPL venture Butter.

$200 millionMisfits Market, a US-based e-commerce platform specialising in the delivery of food that would otherwise be wasted, has completed a $200 million Series C funding round.

This brings the company's total funding to $301.5 million. It is now valued at $1.1 billion.

27Pinterest and Shopify are expanding their partnership to the UK and 26 other countries. 

This includes France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Malta, Australia, and New Zealand.

10%Iceland is offering NHS workers a 10% shopping discount, kicking off today and running until 2nd May.

$65 millionDeliverect, a Belgian startup that connects the likes of Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Doordash, and Just Eat Takeaway.com to restaurants’ PoS systems, has raised $65 million in a Series C funding round.

100Amazon and Global Optimism report that more than 100 companies have now signed The Climate Pledge. 

90%…Adyen has helped Edinburgh-based heritage brand Hunter to reduce chargeback rates by 90%.

1,500Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Salon, an experiential hair care and styling venue where the e-commerce giant will showcase new products and technology.

This will be set over two floors and more than 1,500 sq. ft. on Brushfield Street in London’s Spitalfields.

£4.5 million…UK-based multivitamins subscription startup Feel has closed a £4.5 million Series A funding round, led by Fuel Ventures and including TMT Investments, Sova VC, Richard Longhurst (founder of LoveHoney) and Igor Ryabenkiy (founder and GP of Altair Capital). 

$2.75 billionWalmart has backed all electric autonomous vehicles venture Cruise.

It has joined a previously announced funding round, bringing the total haul to $2.75 billion.

The retailer says that this will aid its work toward developing a last mile delivery ecosystem that’s fast, low cost and scalable.

50…Digital operations platform specialist Brightpearl has launched its search for the inaugural Lightning 50, a league table of the UK’s fastest growing e-commerce businesses over the last 12 months. 

5,000…Danish furniture and home furnishings retailer JYSK has launched a store manager recruitment campaign as it looks to hit 5,000 stores worldwide.

$830,000Odore, a startup that works with the likes of Guerlain, Clive Christian and L’Oréal, has raised $830,000 in a round led by SFC Capital and also involving RLC Ventures. 

$3 millionHome Delivery Service (HDS Global) has raised $3 million for the launch of its robot powered e-groceries and general merchandise offering.

This is the brainchild of Louis Borders, who also founded Borders Books & Music, Synergy Software, and Webvan.

£10 million…Ocado Group is to invest £10 million in Oxbotica, as part of the autonomous vehicle software venture’s Series B funding round.

£0.5 billionTesco reached a record £0.5 billion in gift card sales during the financial year ending 28th February 2021.

The 65% year-on-year increase was achieved through a combination of in-store and digital sales.  

100Whole Foods Market has adopted Honeywell’s Solstice N40 (R-448A) refrigerant Stateside as it seeks to reduce refrigerant emissions under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s GreenChill programme.

The retailer will retrofit its commercial refrigeration systems at more than 100 stores.

$80 million…Zilch, a London-based startup operating in the buy now, pay later space, has raised $80 million in a Series B round. 

40% of UK customers have witnessed a staff member suffer verbal or physical abuse at a retail or hospitality venue in the last year, according to research from NFU Mutual.

£4.5 million…UK-based on-demand grocery delivery business, Beelivery, has secured a £4.5 million investment.
