Six retail technology funding rounds you need to know about

RTIH rounds up the retail systems ventures who have recently bagged significant investments. Featuring Vivrelle, Carted, Sensei, Recurate, ReCharge and Una Brands.

1. Vivrelle

Vivrelle, a membership club that provides rental access to designer handbags, jewellery, and diamonds, has closed a $26 million Series A financing round led by Origin Ventures, with participation from Chapford Capital Group.

2. Carted

E-commerce startup Carted has received $10 million in seed funding led by Blackbird Ventures.

Tidal Ventures, Grok Ventures, and TEN13 also took part.

Founded in 2020, Carted is building an API that allows developers and creators to build a checkout anywhere online. It is currently in private beta mode.

3. Sensei

Lisbon-based computer vision startup, Sensei, has secured a seed round of $6.5 million.

This was led by Seaya Ventures and Iberis Capital, with participation from 200M Fund managed by BPF, and existing investor LeadX Capital. 

Sensei provides autonomous store technology. The injection of funding will be used to expand R&D efforts, meet increasing demand, accelerate new store launches and roll-out its solution in Europe.

4. ReCharge

Subscription e-commerce venture, ReCharge, has raised $277 million in growth capital from Summit Partners, ICONIQ Growth, and Bain Capital Ventures.

This values it at $2.1 billion.

5. Recurate

E-commerce venture, Recurate, has announced partnerships with La Ligne, Mara Hoffman, and Peak Design. 

It has also completed a $3.25 million seed round led by Gradient Ventures. 

6. Una Brands

Una Brands has raised $40 million in a seed round backed by the likes of 500 Startups, Kingsway Capital, 468 Capital, Presight Capital, and Global Founders Capital.  

It has also secured investment from Maximilian Bittner, currently CEO at Vestiaire Collective and former Lazada CEO.

The Singapore-based startup, co-founded by Kiren Tanna, the founder of Foodpanda and ZEN Rooms, is focused on buying and scaling e-commerce brands with the majority of acquisitions happening in Australia.
