Ten retail technology investments that should be on your radar
These companies are leading the way in providing retail systems powered experiences that are one step ahead of their customers’ expectations, including Carrefour UAE, Ahold Delhaize, Walmart and Klarna.
1. Carrefour UAE
Majid Al Futtaim has implemented new advertising technology at its Carrefour UAE business.
It says that, as a result, website and smartphone app customers will receive the most relevant and appealing advertised promotions.
In addition, end-to-end tracking, measurement and reporting tools and metrics, give participating suppliers a better understanding of individual consumer interactions.
2. Lindex
Lindex has used Bambuser live video shopping technology to take viewers on a virtual trip to scenic summer locations across Scandinavia and showcase its new swimwear collections in the process.
3. Very.co.uk
Very Assistant, Very.co.uk’s artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, has become the pureplay’s largest customer service channel.
Previously only available via the app, it now answers 268,000 customer queries a month, having been launched on the Very website in September 2020.
Very Assistant helps people with the likes of tracking orders, changing account details, and reminding them of their next account payment date.
4. Deichmann Group
European shoe retailer, Deichmann Group, has deployed Targomo technology in Germany.
The company, which has a presence in 30 countries with chains such as Deichmann, vanHaren and Rack Room Shoes, has selected AI powered location analytics platform TargomoLOOP for a pilot project supporting its site selection in Germany, where Deichmann operates more than 1,400 stores.
5. Lambert Smith Hampton
Alfi has commenced operation of its digital advertising technology in kiosks located within London’s Hammersmith Broadway Shopping Centre.
It has signed a contract with the centre’s management firm, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH).
Following deployment at Hammersmith Broadway, the pair have agreed to potentially expand Alfi’s AI SaaS platform to another 50 shopping centres/malls across the UK that are under LSH management.
6. Desigual
Fashion retailer, Desigual, is deploying MishiPay’s mobile self-checkout shopping tech in stores in Spain.
7. Walmart
Walmart has unveiled Me@Walmart, a new app built in-house by Walmart Global Tech for US store associates.
8. Klarna
Buy now pay later big hitter Klarna has introduced a new feature in the UK, enabling users to split the cost of purchases at online retailers (regardless of whether they’re partnered with the FinTech or not), eliminating the need for a credit card.
9. Ahold Delhaize
Deploying scalable and affordable enterprise grade IoT applications in the retail industry has traditionally been restricted by technology limitations.
Enter Hanshow which is laying claim to a SaaS solution that accelerates this digital transformation by connecting store shelves to retailers, store operators, and customers on what it describes as “an unprecedented scale” by managing more than 10 million IoT devices across a large network of Ahold Delhaize stores in Europe.
10. Mulberry
Mulberry reports that, by leveraging Google Cloud’s data analytics capabilities to generate customer insights and streamline delivery processes, it has boosted sales by up to 25% during the Covid-19 pandemic.
