Greg Deacon departs Jisp to take on VP of Groups and Business Development role at The Snappy Group

Q-commerce convenience grocery sector specialist, The Snappy Group, has appointed Greg Deacon as VP of Groups and Business Development.

The role will focus on the expansion of existing retail chain relationships and enhancing the Snappy Shopper marketplace proposition, as well as developing new channels.

Deacon brings a wealth of industry and business development experience, following roles with 2022 RTIH Innovation Awards winner Jisp, and also NFRN and Camelot.

He says that he will prioritise addressing the issues that matter most to retailers by working with key industry stakeholders, including last mile providers, EPoS companies to support on integrations and wholesalers to add value to retailers and consumers.

With access to data and insight becoming increasingly important to the success of local retailers and brands alike, Deacon will also develop a retail media offering to support Snappy Shopper’s intent to build the platform’s profile across the sector.

Snappy Group CEO, Mike Callachan, says: “We are thrilled to have Greg join the team as we look to continue our growth trajectory. Greg shares our passion for empowering businesses through data and technology and brings invaluable experience and industry relationships.”

“The grocery Q-commerce space in the UK is heating up and this latest addition to our team perfectly positions us for the next chapter.”

Deacon comments: ''I’m absolutely delighted to join the Snappy Group at a truly exciting time for the company as it grows beyond 2,500 merchants globally. I understand the issues caused by inflated retail prices driven by the big three marketplaces, which affect retailers and the wider FMCG industry as well as consumers.”

“Our proposition is unrivalled in supporting and growing partner businesses, offering an alternative model at this challenging time for the sector.”

Over the past 24 months, Snappy Group has announced a series of hires from retail and tech backgrounds.

The board has recently welcomed several new members, including Caroline MacGregor, previously Co-op now serves as Chief People Office; Lisa Venter, who previously worked at Skyscanner and is now the Chief Transformation Officer; and Barry McGonagle, also from Skyscanner, who now serves as Chief Financial Officer.

Additionally, Daniel Calvert, who held roles at both Google and Uber, recently joined the board as Chief Growth Officer.
