A logical next step: Wolt makes delivery fleet available for orders outside its own platform via API integration
Finnish delivery service Wolt is opening its platform with the new service Wolt Drive.
This provides its logistics offering to other businesses, enabling deliveries within 35 minutes. In a nutshell, every store, service provider, or e-commerce merchant can now access Wolt's delivery network in Vienna.
Customers can now select the Wolt Drive option when shopping online at Sacher. Other businesses include mel&koffie, Schachtelwirt, and Ginza Yipin.
Matthias Winkler, CEO at Sacher Hotels, says: “An original Sacher Torte delivered to your home within one hour? This is now available in Vienna.”
“The trend towards rapid delivery has long since arrived in Vienna. By integrating Wolt as a delivery option into our own online store, we can not only easily meet this customer demand but also rely on a professional delivery infrastructure without having to build our own resources.”
“At the same time, we maintain our operational autonomy: the customer orders directly from us, Wolt handles the logistics.”
Wolt Drive is available to every merchant, even those not represented on the Wolt app.
Customers order through the merchant's app or online store, and Wolt takes care of the delivery on the last mile. There is no commission for the merchant, just a fixed fee per order.
"Effective immediately, all merchants can use our logistics offer for the last mile," says Joscha Domdey, General Manager at Wolt Austria.
"This is possible through an API integration, allowing Wolt to be offered as one of several delivery options in the merchant's own shop.”
“It is also possible through a website, where merchants can request a delivery partner from point A to point B, and finally through platforms like Shopify, where Wolt can simply be activated as a delivery option for their goods."
Wolt Drive has been available for some time in Croatia. Among its key partners there is Deutsche Telekom.
When Telekom customers in Croatia order a new modem, Wolt delivers it directly to their doorstep within a short time frame.
It also offers this service in Azerbaijan, where credit cards from Kapital Bank are delivered to homes via Wolt Drive upon account opening. In Israel, McDonald’s uses Wolt to deliver orders from its own platform. In Germany, it's KFC.
“For the Austrian market, Wolt Drive is almost a small logistics revolution,” says Domdey.
“For us, the launch of this new offering is a logical next step. After all, we see ourselves as a logistics optimisation company. We have specifically tailored our platform to enable such intelligent logistics solutions.”
