STRATACACHE hires former Epsilon exec Chris McLelland as Director of Business Development, EMEA at Walkbase
STRATACACHE, a supplier of interactive, intelligent shopper engagement experiences and analytic tools, has appointed Chris McLelland to Director of Business Development, EMEA for Walkbase.
McLelland will identify and secure retail partners for the in-store analytics and marketing specialist. His appointment comes as Walkbase technology rolls out across several retailers and premises in Europe, such as select French locations of Europe’s largest fitness chain, Basic-Fit, and soon to be announced national retail chains.
“As the Walkbase business scales across Europe, commercially minded leaders who understand the technology and its potential for retailers, brands, and audiences are essential. In Chris we have an expert in analytics and retail media who has extensive experience in leveraging data to yield formidable results. His knowledge of and enthusiasm for the data available from within the store will be of huge benefit to our partners, Walkbase and the STRATACACHE family as a whole,” says Ben Reynolds, VP, Business Development at Walkbase.

“Insights gained from Walkbase technology can transform customer experience, influence available advertising spend and grow sales,” says McLelland “The data that is available from within the store is immense and for many, untapped. I am hugely excited to join STRATACACHE, leading Walkbase in EMEA to help retailers and other partners realize the full scope of opportunities available through our privacy-focused, data tools and solutions.”
McLelland joins Walkbase from Epsilon, where he held a Senior Director of Client Development role, working closely with major brands to deliver data driven customer engagement solutions. In his new role, McLelland will focus on expanding Walkbase’s footprint across the European retail and hospitality markets, supporting clients, and partners with in-store analytics tools and audience measurement technologies.
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Shopper engagement experiences will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
