Amazon launches one-hour grocery pickup at Whole Foods Market stores

Amazon Prime members can now place Whole Foods Market orders online and get free, one-hour pickup (for purchases of $35 or more) at all the retailer’s 487 US locations.

“While the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of online grocery services and prompted new customers to try services like grocery pickup, it’s clear that this offering will become a more permanent solution for many customers,” Amazon said in a blog post.

“In fact, more than 40% of Whole Foods Market pickup orders each month are from customers trying the service for the first time. And, according to recent data from Global Data Research, almost 68% of consumers say they will continue to use curbside pickup even when the pandemic has subsided.”

Amazon Shopper Panel

Amazon has launched Amazon Shopper Panel, an invitation-only initiative where participants can earn monthly rewards by sharing receipts from purchases made outside of Amazon.com and by completing surveys.

People can upload 10 eligible receipts per month by using the Amazon Shopper Panel app to take pictures of paper receipts or by forwarding email receipts to receipts@panel.amazon.com.

They will earn $10 towards either an Amazon Balance or a charitable donation. They will also get additional rewards each month for every survey they complete.

The programme is currently only available to US customers. Amazon says that it may use customer data to improve product selection at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market, as well as to improve content selection offered through services such as Prime Video.

The collected data will also help advertisers better understand the relationship between their ads and product purchases at an aggregate level.
