Amazon veteran Alex Ceballos joins friend Dave Clark at his AI driven supply chain solution startup Auger
In October, we reported that former Amazon executive Dave Clark had unveiled his new company, Auger, and announced that he’d raised a $100 million seed round led by VC firm Oak HC/FT.
Auger is developing an AI powered tool for supply chain dependent businesses that integrates with existing inventory management platforms to deliver real-time insights.
“Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how broken supply chains don’t just impact companies, but in fact millions of people: delays that prevent products from reaching shelves, miscommunications that force employees into overtime, higher consumer prices, and inefficiencies that contribute to a growing carbon footprint,” Clark told TechCrunch. “These aren’t just business problems - they’re human problems. And it’s time we fix them.”
Now we can report that Alex Ceballos, whose CV includes serving as VP, Worldwide Corporate Development at Amazon, has joined Auger as President and CFO.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: "Grateful to be working alongside a brilliant founding team, led by my friend Dave Clark. Auger’s goal of building an AI driven, end-to-end global supply chain solution is an ambitious vision - and we know it’s not something we can achieve alone. We plan on forging strong partnerships and exploring strategic M&A opportunities to accelerate our journey and deliver exceptional value to our customers."
He added: "During my 16-year tenure at Amazon, I led the acquisition of Kiva Systems (now Amazon Robotics) which revolutionised our logistics operations and contributed to unprecedented operational savings. Through this process and the acquisition of many other companies, I experienced just how fragmented traditional supply chain management is, often relying on incompatible systems and inefficient workarounds."
"At Auger, we’re committed to making global supply chains more efficient, more sustainable, and ultimately, better for everyone. I look forward to collaborating and partnering with customers who are eager to optimise their supply chains and create seamless, efficient operations that touch every corner of the globe. We’ll be sharing more updates and key milestones soon."
The leadership team also includes Sanjay Dash, AJ Wilhoit, and Russell Allgor.

2024 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Supply chain technology was a key focus area at the sixth edition of the RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, sponsored by Vista Technology Support, Scala, CADS, 3D Cloud, Brightpearl by Sage’s Lightning 50, Business France, and Retail Technology Show 2025, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended last month’s gathering.
