Retail, FMCG, and supply chain transformation veteran Per Thau added to Kwayga advisory board

Kwayga, a B2B supplier sourcing firm improving how supermarket buying teams operate through AI driven technology, has announced the appointment of Per Thau to its advisory board.

Thau previously served as Sales, Category & Marketing Director at Unilever, was the CEO at Kvickly, one of the largest Danish supermarket chains, and currently holds the position of Chairperson of the Board at Coop Trading, the supplier sourcing company for the largest cooperative retail groups in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

This appointment follows the addition of Paul Hourican as Chairman last year.

Hourican says: “Per brings exceptional experience in retail, FMCG, and supply chain transformation, making him a fantastic addition to our board. His insights will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and expand, ensuring Kwayga remains the go-to platform for supermarket buying teams and suppliers. I look forward to working closely with him as we drive the company forward.”

“Kwayga is on a mission to revolutionise the way retail buyers operate day to day and how they connect with suppliers through technology,” says Mike McGrath, CEO and Co-founder at Kwayga. “Following Paul’s appointment as Chairman, together we sought a leader with deep experience in supermarket operations and supply chain strategy to complement our advisory board. Per brings precisely that expertise, and we’re excited to have him on board as we accelerate our growth.”

Thau comments: “I am delighted to be joining Kwayga’s advisory board at such an exciting time for the company. Its technology is transforming how supermarket buying teams operate, making supplier sourcing faster, more transparent, and more efficient. I look forward to leveraging my experience in retail and supply chain leadership to support the company’s ambitious vision and continued success.”

RTIH AI in Retail Awards

RTIH, organiser of the industry leading RTIH Innovation Awards, proudly brings you the first edition of the RTIH AI in Retail Awards, which is now open for entries.

As we witness a digital transformation revolution across all channels, AI tools are reshaping the omnichannel game, from personalising customer experiences to optimising inventory, uncovering insights into consumer behaviour, and enhancing the human element of retailers' businesses.

With 2025 set to be the year when AI and especially gen AI shake off the ‘heavily hyped’ tag and become embedded in retail business processes, our newly launched awards celebrate global technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world and the resulting benefits for retailers, shoppers and employees.

Our 2025 winners will be those companies who not only recognise the potential of AI, but also make it usable in everyday work - resulting in more efficiency and innovation in all areas.

Winners will be announced at an evening event at The Barbican in Central London on Wednesday, 3rd September.

This will kick off with a drinks reception in the stunning Conservatory, followed by a three course meal, and awards ceremony in the Garden Room.
