Climate Pledge Arena extends use of Amazon One service
Climate Pledge Arena has announced expanded use of the Amazon One palm recognition and payment solution at three concession areas.
These join the four existing Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One enabled stores, which opened last year and allow customers to take what they want and leave without stopping to check-out.
The venue, located at Seattle Center in the US, was originally built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair and lays claim to being the first net zero certified arena in the world.
Home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and live music and events, Climate Pledge Arena opened in October 2021.
Amazon One will be available as a standalone payment option for guests visiting the Modelo Cantina, Metropolitan Grill and 1st Ave Nachos.
If a guest is new to using the service, they can enrol at kiosks located outside the three concession areas, or at any of the aforementioned Just Walk Out powered stores.
Amazon One’s expansion as a PoS option at the venue is a collaboration between Amazon, Climate Pledge Arena hospitality partner Delaware North, the Seattle Kraken and Oak View Group, owner and operator of the arena.
“It’s an easy decision for us to support technology solutions that guests love and find easy to use,” says Jeff Wilkinson, Chief Information Officer at Delaware North.
“With four Just Walk Out technology enabled stores and Amazon One at a combined seven areas, Climate Pledge Arena is quickly becoming a hub for tech-savvy fans, and we’re thrilled to help enable a seamless payment experience for them with this latest expansion.”
“We are excited Climate Pledge Arena is doubling down on their commitment to enable a fast and frictionless shopping experience for their guests during concerts and games,” says Dilip Kumar, VP AWS Applications.
“Expanding the use of Amazon One as a payment option at Climate Pledge Arena will help reduce lines for guests waiting to pay, as well as remove the need for them to carry a wallet, handbag, or credit card whenever they want to step away from the action to purchase food and refreshments.”
A total of 18 Amazon One devices will be available as a payment option.
“We’ve received incredible feedback on Amazon One from our fans and we’re delighted to expand the technology to more areas inside Climate Pledge Arena,” says Todd Humphrey, SVP, Digital Innovation and Fan Experience for the Seattle Kraken.
“Giving our fans a simple, safe, and fast experience at the arena is a priority for us, and we’re thrilled to deepen our relationship with Amazon to enable a unique, memorable, and hyper convenient retail experience inside the arena.”
