Tennessee Titans’ Nissan Stadium and Zippin prep checkout-free stores

Nissan Stadium in the US has announced that five Zippin powered checkout-free stores will launch in time for the Tennessee Titans pre-season this summer.

These will be operated by Levy and Legends on both the concourse and club levels.

“At Nissan Stadium we’re always looking for ways to offer our fans the greatest level of convenience and ease of purchase,” says Adam Nuse, Titans Senior Vice President of Business Operations.

“Working with Zippin will offer our fans a quick and easy way to grab the food and drink items they need, and get back to enjoying Nashville’s biggest stage: Nissan Stadium.”

“Fans are demanding quick and easy access to top quality food and drink that enhances their experience at the stadium,” says Gary Jacobus, SVP of Business Development.

“Forward looking venues like Nissan Stadium are fast adopting innovative technology, like Zippin’s, and they recognize that the maximum ROI of checkout-free is fully realised with multiple stores located throughout the venue.”

Nissan Stadium’s checkout-free shopping will be available for all the entertainment and other sporting events the venue hosts every year, from WWE wrestling to concerts.

Self-checkouts

Krishna Motukuri, CEO and Co-founder at Zippin, recently took to Twitter to have his say on self-checkout technology.

Referring to a CNN Business article, entitled Nobody likes self-checkout. Here's why it's everywhere, Motukuri said: “Nobody likes self-checkout and contrary to what people think, it's not even benefiting retailers. Checkout-free, however, is a different story.”

“Self-checkout simply passes the work of the cashier on to the customer, increasing friction for the customer, which inevitably leads to frustration and errors and MORE work for retailers, in the end.”

“Checkout-free works by removing friction and making retail operations substantially more efficient,” he concluded.
