E-commerce and Digital Director Chris Bishop reflects on 'transformative journey' as he exits Nobody's Child

Chris Bishop is departing Nobody's Child where he held the role of E-commerce & Digital Director.

He joined the fashion brand in September 2022.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: "The revenue took online on my first day at Nobody's Child in 2022, is now regularly matched in 30 minutes. After three transformative growth years, it’s time to close my chapter at NC.”

“I trust I’ve demonstrated what can be achieved with a customer behaviour obsession and a relentless drive to improve and outperform. We’ve gone from a startup who internally celebrated on Whatsapp when we saw someone wearing “NC in the wild”, to a brand besting all the retail benchmarks."

Highlights have included replatforming and redesigning the website, profitably acquiring hundreds of thousands of new customers and doubling their lifetime value, onboarding 50+ new partners, and helping to fit out a few physical stores.

Bishop said: "A true highlight has been building the E-commerce & Digital team from the ground up. I had the pleasure of recruiting each one of them, and it’s been a privilege to mentor, challenge, and support their growth.”

“My approach has always been to trust and empower - and I’ve seen first-hand how far that can take people. They’ve pushed boundaries, taken ownership, and every one of them has a bright future ahead. I can’t wait to see what they can all truly do."

"There’s been a lot of pushing along the way and maybe a few too many Canva team photoshops, as I’ve always wanted to intern with the brand team. Along the way, we picked up some silverware too - most notably the Drapers double double, which still feels surreal. I’ve lived this company 24/7, checking sales around the clock. I’ve given it everything - time, energy, cricket memes, and a fair bit of old fashioned northern graft - and I’ve genuinely loved every single minute of it."

Bishop concluded: "Thank you and well done to everyone who’s been part of it. It’s proof that with an ambitious plan, true optimism, skilled execution, and brilliant people - magic can truly happen. Maverick out. On to the next mission."

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Online retail will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
