Trouva announces Berlin expansion

Independent retail platform Trouva has expanded to its first international city, connecting the UK with Berlin.

This follows the startup’s $10 million Series A round last November. Trouva has built a technology platform that allows bricks and mortar independents to sell online, from store. 20 Berlin boutiques are already operational, including The Amazing Crocodile Design Store.

Mandeep Singh, CEO and Co-founder, Trouva, says: “The recent announcement of our Series A has quickly led to our expansion into Berlin as the first stepping stone in our mission to unite the world’s greatest independent shops on our platform. Our customers will for the first time be able to defy the boundaries thrown up by geography, browsing and buying from these incredible stores no matter where they are, and get their purchases delivered to them quickly and seamlessly. At the same time, through Click and Collect, we’re driving our boutique-loving customers into the shops themselves.”

Sonja Lotz, shopkeeper and owner of Moeon boutique in Berlin, comments: “We’ve had an incredible response since joining Trouva a few weeks ago, with over 100 products being shipped to new customers. In the first week alone we had orders from seven different countries including the US, Australia, Spain and UK. This expansion to our existing local German customer base is exactly what we need to propel our shops growth and allow us to continue doing what we love; sourcing and stocking the world’s best fairtrade accessory, clothing and beauty brands all made using organic materials.”
