Marriott scores a Tmall Super Brand Day first

Marriott International will hold a Tmall Super Brand Day this Saturday to offer special discounts on hotel stays and travel packages both in and outside of China.

It is the first company in the hospitality industry to implement a Super Brand Day promotion, where Tmall offers top placement on its homepage and targeted marketing campaigns for brands to reach greater numbers of consumers on the Alibaba Group-owned B2C shopping site.

Visitors to Marriott’s storefront on Fliggy, Alibaba’s online travel platform, will also find special promotions and a chance to win lucky draw prizes. Members of Marriott International loyalty programme who book their stay at select Asia Pacific properties can also enjoy a discount of up to 10%.

Bo Liu, President of Tmall’s marketing and operations, comments: “Our role as a gateway for international brands to reach the China market means we have to continue bringing the best of all worlds to consumers here, and enhancing their travel experiences is one part of it.”

Alibaba and Marriott International also recently partnered to test facial recognition check-ins at two China hotels. Further details here and below.
