Mattel Creations Virtual Collectibles Platform set to launch peer-to-peer marketplace on 27th April

Mattel has announced an update to the Mattel Creations Virtual Collectibles Platform.

On 27th April, the platform will introduce its own peer-to-peer marketplace, allowing owners of Mattel virtual collectibles to display, trade, and sell their assets.

To coincide with the update, Series 5 of the Hot Wheels NFT Garage will launch at the same time.

The marketplace is powered by Rarible.

In addition to Rarible, Mattel has partnered with several technology providers to bring this to life including Magic, a wallet-as-a-service provider.

It was developed in collaboration with long-term blockchain partner Flow.

“When we first set out to launch our own Virtual Collectibles Platform, we did so with the intention of creating an unrivalled, best-in-class experience for the fans of Mattel's iconic brands,” says Ron Friedman, Vice President at Mattel Future Lab.

“In adding a marketplace feature to our easy-to-navigate platform that enables users to sell and trade their virtual collectibles, we’ve taken another step toward realising that vision.”

“Especially as we unveil Series 5 of the Hot Wheels NFT Garage, we can’t wait for fans and collectors of all ages to experience the updated platform.”

Obsess

Late last year, Mattel brand American Girl unveiled its 2023 Girl of the Year, Kavi Sharma, and as part of the launch partnered with Obsess to create a free virtual museum experience.

This allows fans to tour Kavi’s room and learn more about her Indian culture and love of performing, play games and learn more about each American Girl character.

The Kavi product collection is available online and at all American Girl retail locations Stateside, along with specialty boutiques at select Indigo and Chapters locations in Canada and online at Indigo.ca.

A hardcover book, It’s Showtime, Kavi, will be available at American Girl and other retail and online booksellers in 2023.
