Quick commerce and online specialist Chris Conway calls time on eight year spell with Co-op
Chris Conway has left Co-op, where he spent the past eight years, joining as Director of E-commerce before taking on the role of MD Co-op Q-Commerce.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: “After eight years, my time at the Co-op has come to an end. It’s been a privilege to help shape the evolution of our online and quick commerce proposition. What began as an emerging idea grew into a business of real scale, built by talented teams willing to test, learn and move at pace. I’m proud of what we achieved together, particularly in pushing established retail into faster, more agile territory.”
He added: “The experience reinforced for me that sustainable innovation comes from diverse thinking, strong customer focus and empowered teams. I’m now taking some time to recharge and reflect before considering my next chapter. Thank you to the many colleagues, partners and peers who were part of the journey. Onwards.”
Just Eat
Co-op and Just Eat have announced changes for online shoppers as the former becomes the first supermarket to introduce member price savings on the latter's platform.
Approaching 150 everyday products and essentials have seen an average price saving of almost 37% with Co-op member prices now available online as well as in-store for shoppers via Just Eat, with the addition of speedy home delivery.
Co-op has grown its quick commerce channel through its own online shop and with partners such as Just Eat who it has worked with since 2022. Just Eat is now available from over 1,000 Co-op stores.
Online orders are picked in the local store, and delivered quickly, often in as little as 60 minutes or less. Co-op says that this approach ensures the high street store also benefits from online demand and, with a store in every postal area, around 86% of the UK population now has access to Co-op groceries online.
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
On demand delivery will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards will open for entries in April. They celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Thursday, 15th October.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
