Amazon Fresh eyes best-in-class grocery shopping experience with Recurring Reservations offering

Amazon has launched a new feature designed to make grocery retail easier for those who shop from Amazon Fresh.

Recurring Reservations helps customers in nearly 1,300 cities and towns in the US plan ahead and get groceries each week on their schedule.

Customers can set up their preferred day and time window for weekly grocery pick-up and delivery up to seven days in advance.

“As shoppers continue to prioritise convenience, Amazon Fresh recognises that convenience looks different for every customer and it’s our job to make grocery shopping as seamless as possible,” says Kim Kornfeld, an Amazon spokesperson.

With Recurring Reservations, customers can:

  • Get their preferred pickup or delivery time automatically reserved each week.

  • Receive reservation notifications two days in advance and an hour before the reservation expires to keep their preferred time.

  • Add items they may have forgotten at any point before the shopper begins picking groceries.

  • Pay only when ready to checkout and modify or cancel at any time, no obligations.

Alongside Recurring Reservations, people can utilise another shopping feature with Amazon Fresh, Repeat Items, to save time on routine shopping by having their favourite items ready and automatically waiting in their cart in advance.

Customers control the quantity and frequency of each item they add. For example, they can get milk once a week, or six apples every two weeks. They’ll be automatically added to their cart on their schedule.

Kornfeld says: “Our goal is to build a best-in-class grocery shopping experience, whether shopping in-store or online, where Amazon is the first choice for selection, value, and convenience.”

“These features are perfect for the busy shoppers who want to streamline their weekly shopping trips and never miss their favourite meals. It’s a great way to make sure customers get all the grocery items they need without the stress of last-minute shopping.”

Doug Herrington

Doug Herrington, CEO Worldwide Amazon Stores, recently hit social media to talk about a recent visit to recently redesigned Amazon Fresh stores in the Los Angeles area.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “The stores look fantastic. I recently got a chance to visit our teams there (and pick up some Whole30 approved snacks for myself in the beautiful produce section).”

“I enjoyed hearing how our customers love the new layout and merchandising of the stores, and the super convenient Dash Carts (smart carts with self-checkout built right in them).”

“It was also great to hear that every week tens of thousands of customers use the convenient Amazon pickup and returns counters located inside Amazon Fresh stores.”

He added: “It’s exciting to see the progress our teams are making, and I look forward to how we’ll continue to invent for our customers. Thank you Tony Hoggett (SVP Worldwide Grocery Stores) and Claire Peters (Vice President Worldwide Amazon) and the Woodland Hills and Pasadena store teams for a fantastic visit.
